ITINERARY
DAY 1: CUSCO – CACHORA- PLAYA ROSALINA

choquequirao machupicchu cachoraAt 6:00 Am, pick up from the hotel, we will drive for 4 hours until we reach Cachora town, place from where the long trek will begin, there we will meet our arrieros,  we have arranged the mules and horses. From these place, we can observe the majestic snowcapped pick known as Padreyoq (5482 m). This first day of 21.50 kilometers, we will have 3 hours of plain road from Cachora to Capuliyoq Viewpoint and 4 hours going down the hill until Playa Rosalina (1,580 meters), our first campsite.

DAY 2: PLAYA ROSALINA - CHOQUEQUIRAO

playa rosalina choquequiraoAround 6:30 am we will start our second day continuing our way, of course, after breakfast, until Choquequirao. We will be arriving to the archeological site after 6 hours, good time to enjoy this majestic place, we will observe three levels of the excavated ruins, terraces and other parts of this Inca city (depending on the time, we will be able to observe the flight of the condors).

DAY 3: CHOQUEQUIRAO - MAIZAL

choqueuiraoAfter breakfast after, around 7:00 am. we begging the day hiking towards Maizal along the sidesteps that goes up to the passage of Choquequirao (3.300 meters), from where we will have impressive views of the cliff of Apurímac, immediately we will descend to the small archeological complex of Pinchiunuyoq and Rio Blanco (White River). We will have lunch here, and in the afternoon we will go up to Maizal, which will take us about 3 hours walking.

DAY 4: MAIZAL - YANAMA

maizal choquequiraoAt 7:00 a.m we will begin to hike up the scarped ascent for 4 hours to the pass of Yanama (4.500 meters), from here we will have impressive views of the picks of Choquetacarpu and Purinasillu. We will take a break before we start to descend towards the community of Yanama (3.400 meters), campsite.

DAY 5: YANAMA - COLLPAPAMPA

collpapampaAround  6:00 am.  we start the day, the way is flat inclined and takes 2:30 hrs. then, we ascend for about 1 hour through the pass of Yanama, 4.700 (meters), the landscape is typical of the Puna zone so that we will have the snowcapped picks Salkantay and Hunantay, as we descend we can observe that the flora will be changing until we get close to the proximities of our camp site, which is a typical high jungle, with cold and humid weather at night but warm during the day. Ariive in Collpapampa and camp there

DAY 6:  COLLPAPAMPA – PLAYA

The 6th day is the easier day, mo much walk, the group will walk for 4 hrs, downhill, we will be introduced to a high Jungle niche called Ceja de Selva where coffee, coca and fruits plantations can be observed, time to shower in a waterfall, take amazing pictures, with some luck we can observe the famous Peruvian National Bird " Gallito de las Rocas " stop in Playa (2250 meters) for Lunch, then continue walking to Playa, where we will have our  last campsite

DAY 7: PLAYA – LLACTAPATA – AGUAS CALIENTES

aguas calientesAfter breakfast,  we start our walk up toward Llactapata on the way we can see plantations of banana, coffee, and avocado, as well as exuberant local flora. We enter spectacled-bear territory and we will probably be accompanied by flocks of parrots as we descend. We cross the river and start climbing for 2-3 hours up to Q’elloqasa Pass (2860 meters) from where we have an exceptional view of Machu Picchu. We enjoy amazing view from Llaqtapata, from where we can view both Machu Picchu and the Salkantay, enjoying the added value of the Llactapata archeological site, which have recently been restored. A 2-hour descent towards the Aobamba River crossing lush bamboo forests and more orchards and coffee plantations brings us to the Hydroelectric, our lunch place. After a short break we continue with the final section of our trek, only 3 more hours until Aguas Calientes, following the train road. Spend the night in a nice hotel to have a well deserves rest

DAY 8: AGUAS CALIENTES – MACHUPICCHU – AGUAS CALIENTES – CUSCO

machupicchuEarly wake up in order to take the bus bus to the Citadel of Machupicchu, guided tour for 2 hours and plenty of free time to explore more, optional time to Climb the mountain Huayna Picchu, Temple of  the Moon, or the Sun gate, after that you have to take the bus to go down to Aguas Calientes and wait for the train to return, arrive in Cusco and transfer to the hotel.

Professional English speaking guide, 2 guides over 12 people

Horsemen and mules for your equipment ( the horses will carry 8 kilos per our client belongings)

Equipment: Igloo tents: 2 people in each 3-people-capacity tents, air – mattresses, dinning tent, toilet tent, kitchen tent, tables, seats, table set and fist aid including an oxygen bottle

Hotel: double accommodation

Train tickets from Aguas Calientes to Cusco

Entrance fee: Machupicchu

Bus ticket: Aguas Calientes – Machupicchu – Aguas Calientes

7 breakfasts / 8 lunches / 7 dinners

It was a perfect tour. I enjoyed every moment , It was carefully organized. Our guide was very attentive  and experienced, the English level  was excellent  and it was a welcoming and kind host ship. We had information about local culture, plants what made tour incredible and unforgettable.
