INCA TRAIL 2 DAYS/ 1 NIGHTS

This options is for people which don’t have many days, but still want to the Inca Trail, in this hike we will enjoy  Wiñaywayna archeological complex (one of the most important sites on the Inca Trail and of course Machupicchu as well

ITINERARY:

inka trail kilometro 82This trek is often known as "the two day Inca Trail", "the Sacred Inca Trail" or “ The Royal Inca Trail”.
The trek starts at Km104 (104 kilometers along the railway from Cusco) and involves a four hour walk uphill to Wiñay Wayna and a couple of hours further to Machu Picchu making it ideal for trekkers wanting to experience at least a part of the Inca Trail but haven't got the time (or energy) to complete the full 4 day trek.
This itinerary is rated moderate and should only be undertaken by people who are fairly fit and take regular exercise. The trek starts at 2100m (KM104) and climbs to 2700m (Wiñay Wayna) before descending to 2400m (Machu Picchu). Since the trek is carried out at a much lower altitude than the Classic 4 day Inca Trail trek you do not need to worry about acclimatization as much, although many people still find themselves short of breath when arriving at Wiñay Wayna so this trek should certainly not be considered an easy option.

DAY 1 : CUSCO - MACHU PICCHU - AGUAS CALIENTES

aguas calientes machupicchuWe will pick you up from your hotel at 06.50 am and take you to Poroy train station to board the train that will take us to km.104 km on the Poroy – Machupicchu railroad (starting point of the trek), where we will arrive at around 10:30 am. We start visiting Chachabamba archaeological complex (2150 masl), located near the checking point, to ascend an 8 km trail, which after four hours will take us to the archaeological complex of Wiñaywayna (2700 masl). This is an impressive complex made up of an agricultural center with numerous terraces, a religious sector and an urban sector. Here, we will have our box lunch. On the way up we will have magnificent views of the Urubamba River valley and the Choquesuysuy archaeological complex located on the other side of the river, and also of a beautiful waterfall located just a few minutes away from Wiñaywayna. We will go on and we will climb to Intipunku, or The Sun Gate. This will take an hour of hiking along a trail of flat stones on the edges of cliffs in highland jungle. From this fabulous spot, we will contemplate the sacred citadel of Machu picchu. From Inti Punku we will descend to Machu picchu and then by bus to Aguas Calientes, where we will spend the night in a nice hostel
